TED20 1951 Seized engine

Well my engine appears to have moved just a little bit over night.
I removed the plugs and horror,, found a rusted tip on number 2.
So filled the cylinders with a mix of ATF and Racing A, cause I had no acetone left.
Theory is the racing A thins the oil for penetration then evaporates slowly leaving the oil for lubrication.
Then i lifted the front of the tractor and put the crank handle in then supported it with an axle stand and lowered the weight of the tractor onto it.
I took a photo last night and then felt that it had moved a bit this morning so lifted the tractor again and made the axle stand higher.

I have posted the photos back to front this mornings first then last nights

Hi from a fellow QLDander.

Mate i went thru this 2 years ago when i bought my first TED20. I let it sit and soak for 2 weeks, but no go..
Ended up removing pan and head, undid 2 and 3 conrod and knock then out as they where rusted to the block

IF you got it to move a fraction, other options are to remove the starter and use a pry bar on the flywheel teeth, but go easy. or stick in in 4th gear and rock it back and forth to see if you can free it up.

good luck mate let us now how you go

Tried the rocking and also took the starter out to access the ring gear, my prybar is a bit too wide to get in there so i may make something up from a leaf spring wide where it will rest on the casing with a cut out to slide into the gear teeth.

Michael a pry bar might be a bit too much . Use caution and a big screwdriver at the most , the last thing you want is to strip a tooth or two of the ring gear .
Patience will help , the release fluid can take a week or two the really work , try levering a little back and forth each day that you can manage . The constant leverage will make micro fractures in the corrosion helping penetration .

Thanks Charles I will try to not get carried away.
The screw driver gave me about the widthe of one tooth forward or back, not sure is that is engine movement or taking up slack.
We will see.

what I thought was a little bit of movement in the engine was just the crank handle bending. Nevermind I straightened it and gave the tractor a good rock back and forth. Try again tomorrow.
