Our antique tractor show is getting a TO 30 ready for our show. We raffle a tractor every year and this year it is a T0 30. We would like to change the transmission and rear end oil. We have never worked on a Ferguson. How many places do we need to drain the oil and where. There is a fill plug on top of the transmission is the the only fill spot.
Thanks for your help

I believe there are 2 drain plugs, one for the transmission, one for the rear housings. Those are prone to collecting water, especially if stored outside with a bad shifter boot. You may want to flush it with diesel, let it drain well.

There is only one fill plug. The oil has to flow from the transmission housing to the rear end. It flows slowly, so fill slowly. Filling too fast can dump oil on the clutch if the front seal is bad. The oil level should be to the bottom of the round inspection covers below the seat. Don't over fill or it will get on the brake shoes!

Originally it used 90 weight mineral oil. A good sub is 15w-40 engine oil.

As Steve said! If you wish to use 90 wt. mineral oil as original, it is available at a number of places, most notably tractor supply where it is listed
as Ford transmission mineral oil, or at NAPA. Some urban NAPA stores don't carry it, but they can get it. The 90 wt. mineral oil works fine and is less
likely to leak onto brake shoes than some alternatives, but it will render the lift slow in cold weather until the tractor warms up. If you are in a very
cold climate take note. Don't use gear oil, which is usually seen as GL3-GL5 ratings. Mineral oil is GL1.

Will Hy-Tran work? One of our members gave us some to use.We thought with the hydraulics using the same oil as the tranny this might be best. Richard where is the 3rd drain. I found to but I just took a quick look.
Thanks for your help.

I was able to down load the operators manual
online. It provides a lot, not all, kinds of
maintenance info. I think it's about 75 pages. That
might not be a starting point. You could give it away
with the tractor,

I did find the manual and have downloaded it. Back to my question will Hy-Tran fluid work in the transmission / rear end?

Thanks again for all of your help.

There are two large plugs on the bottom of the tractor (1 1/16" wrench size) and one smaller (11/16" wrench size) plug on the right front corner of the hydraulic pump. Here's a pic of it.
