58 To-35 Diesel Voltage Regulator Location

Since I'm full into this (did I mention very expensive?) restoration, I want to put a generator back on to the Fergie. I got it with an alternator, which was poorly fitted to the engine. The regulator was not left on the tractor. From what I can read, it appears that it goes onto the battery support. There's no mounting holes in the battery mount, so I'm very uncertain of where it goes or how it's mounted....Can anyone confirm? Any pics of it mounted? I also don't have the bracket, if there was one.

I am not sure if there was more than one diesel available in 58. Do you know exactly which diesel you have?

Should be located on left side steering below battery. You may be able to see two holes
where it screws into. You may have a Standard engine--4 cylinder.

Definitely the 23C standard diesel....only diesel that year I know of. I see a bunch of holes (see pic). Can I assume that the two lower ones closest to the trans casting are the ones? Is there supposed to be a bracket? Anyone have a picture so I can make one? Can't find anything showing me what I'm supposed to have in any manual etc.

We got a 58-MF 50 that has 3 cylinder Perkins. Not sure if they had Standard or if the 58 --35 had Perkins. I know 61-MF35 had Perkins. Neighbor has one.

Yours has a fuel filter bracket where most regulator are. May be different with Standard engine. Maybe Tony Mass will see this and send picture of his.

It mounts just below the battery, left side, just behind the starter solenoid.

If you have the time, and are willing to scrounge the interweb, try to find a NOS Delco. The original one mounted on rubber straps.

Much better quality than the new aftermarkets. I would even be willing to take a chance on a used one!
