Tapping maples

My brother and I and his kids tapped a few maples today. We only
put out 15 buckets, could've put out a lot more but we're just
screwing around.

I went out and screwed a tap into a maple a few years ago. I'm still waiting. I guess that might be a slow screw? Then again, mebbe it would help if I was living outside the other Portland. . . .

I put out our 40 yesterday morning and this afternoon I collected about 50 gallons of sap. It's the fastest start we've had in years. Usually the first few warm spells aren't quite this warm, and the sun was really bright.
