TO20 Can't remove pto shaft

I took my TO20 to the local votech school to let the students get experience working on an old tractor! They loved the old tractor! Well they were going to replace the pto shaft rear seal but they couldn't get it out! So they split tractor to see why and didn't see any reason! Then when they put it back to gather they couldn't move the pto shift lever; so NO pto!!! Help!!!!! What could they have done! and any idea why the pto shaft wouldn't come out??? It was working fine before I took it to shop!!!

Twisted shaft requiring sawzall to remove. Now that it has been student-nized, pull the side covers and have a look.

The shaft is more than likely twisted just before it enters the pump , it doesn't take much to stop it coming through .
The fix is to split the tractor after the gearbox and carefully look at the shaft again . Sometimes it needs to be cut out .
