Drawbar for Pulling a Trailer

Looking to be able to pull my 16' trailer with my Ferguson TO20. I purchased a standard drawbar with the holes in it. The problem is that the bar spins when I go to pull the trailer, and the ball
pops out. I was going to buy the Drawbar Swing Kit, but I want to be able to lift and lower the hitch, which wouldn't work on the Swing kit.
Any recommendations are very welcome!
Thanks.

Chris

I welded up a bracket that bolts through one of the end holes in the draw bar, then has a saddle that goes around the lift arm with a drop in pin. That way it can be taken off without tools.

Something like this might work well for ya:

Here is what I have, the receiver can be moved from the bottom to the top. Sorry this is the best picture I have right now.

This is an original Ferguson hitch that I use on both my FE 35 X and my TEA-20.

Item # 15

Easy to fabricate if you have to:

I made this from an old tow bar , a gooseneck and a few plates . Lets you lift the trailer draw bar for unloading as well .

I know you already ordered one but you could have made one up out of a piece of steel and a J bolt.
You might also want to consider a set of stays so if you stop with a loaded wagon on the back the drawbar does ride up.

(quoted from post at 03:42:53 01/25/17)

One of the best things about having a hitch on the 3 point is to be able to back under a trailer and hook it up without using the jack. If you don't have to move it far you can pick it up, move it where you want it, and drop it without leaving the tractor seat.

I have never used stays for that reason.

Use the swing drawbar and the trailer jack. DO NOT try to use the 3 point arms, as well as not giving sturdy non moving hitch that will make you loose control by wipping if going down a drive or road at any speed they set too far back and take the weight off the front wheels so you have no steering control. Ferguson TO-30, Ford NAA, FORD 9N & 2 N. What you are wanting to do is as bad as trying to pull a tree from the top link. it could KILL you.

No matter the type hitch you build, you must install some stay bars from the ends of your cross bar up to the top link connection on the body of the tractor,

Other wise if the load were to tip up the hitch on you, it could jam the lift arms.

If ya tried, could you be a little more melodramatic?

I've pulled tons of trailers both loaded and empty with the 3 point. Never had a problem.

Hope you stay that lucky. I know what they will do and I am not yet ready to be killed by doing something stupid like that. And Deere knew about the tipping problems and that is why they made a special hitch for the Ford and Ferguson tractors to be sold with their manure spreaders. And I have that hitch on a 2N.
