Hi wanting to replace pivot pin bush and pin.I am having trouble removing the bush which I am assuming is fitted from the back of the axle and will need to be hit out towards the enginefrom the front of axle which I have tried with no luck at all.
I'm thinking of cutting it to try and free it up.

You can saw a cut through the bushing, use a Sawzall or a hack saw.

Just be careful to stop just as the cut nears the housing. Just getting the cut "almost" through the bushing will relieve the press fit and it will hammer out.

Once out, you can polish the rust out and the new bushing will go in.

Thanks Steve yes I'm going to try that once I fix my metal punch that's looking pretty sad from my efforts to knock that bush out so far.

Instead of a punch, might try something just under the OD of the bushing, like an old socket, piece of round stock, pipe, etc.

That will give more surface contact, less likely to brad the edge making it tighter.

When I see a post on replacing this bearing it always makes me think, why did two great tractor companies, Ford and Ferguson not think this bearing would not wear out with no lube point,

My manual says to lube the bearing with graphite, but in all the years I never saw anyone lube that bearing, maybe we were the only ones who didn't

I buy spray graphite from Napa and give the bearing a good soaking from time to time,

The AC tractor I owned years ago had a grease zerk for that bearing, I just gave it a few shots when I greased the tractor, no problems,

Might consider drilling and adding a grease zerk while you have the axle off replacing the bearing,

that is what I did,
made a couple of hacksaw kerfs in the old bearing, then took the chisel and knocked out the short piece between the saw kerfs.

once it was out I was able to get the other part out easy.

hope its not worn through the bearing into the axle, depending on how much can make for a different problem.
