Have a 1950 TO20 Ferguson - have a bush hog on 3 point - when the hydraulic is engaged - (bush hog up position) - it bounces up and down in short spurts repeatedly (?) hoping it will be just the valve but any additional input would be appreciated - thnx - Dennis in TN

The bouncing can be caused by a couple of things, depending on what type bounce you are having.

If it is in position, and slightly bounces while holding it there, that can simply be the hydraulics correcting for the cylinder creeping down. The cylinder has iron rings, so it will leak some, not a positive seal. You will see this when the pump is stopped, the lift goes down on it's own. The pump is just trying it's best to keep it up.

The other thing that happens, if the lift is jerky and slow while lifting, there is a problem with the valves in the pump, a common problem.

No position control on a TO-20 or -30 unless equipped with a Zane Thang or a Fergy Positioner or a knock off thereof. Possibly a bad valve in the pump.
