funny thing is these cushions have been outside for anywhere from five to seven years. why are they savagely attacked now?

I do know that for the fist time in 30 years of living here the five hazelnut trees on our property gave absolutely no nuts. none, nada. the two black walnut trees gave so few I was hard pressed to find any. dry a bone this past summer.

You should have said you wanted some walnuts this year Steve. We only have one walnut tree on our one and a half acres but this year it threw so many walnuts on the ground I had to rake them up every time before I mowed for four weeks so I didn't wreck the riding mower and vacuum. As in the past 43 years it changes every other year. Next year we probably won't get enough to say so.

you are correct Richard it does change every year. this year was extreme for the lack of nuts. I count on the nut shells to clean the bottom of my mower decks every fall. not so this year. had to get underneath with a putty knife.
