squirrels for sure. no rats around. I see them every day around the machines but never knew they liked seat cushions.

Here is something to try: My BIL had red squirrels in his house. After two weeks of trying to catch in a live trap he thought he would try a Rat trap. Went to the Farm & Home store told them he wanted a RAT trap and why. They said that is not what you want. They showed him a new type of trap & they said they guaranteed this would catch them. I haven't seen the traps but he said he puts P-nut butter in the middle in the hole and the squirrels start eating the butter. When they get down to the bottom of the butter it trips the trigger and this unit comes up around the squirrel like an envelope and is smothered in this trap, pick up the trap throw in garbage can. Set another trap caught another squirrel no more red squirrels in house, peace of mind. He left another trap set up and been two weeks no more noise in the house.

Last yr. something chewed the edges of all my plastic outside chairs. I googled the problem and learned it was common problem and was probably squirrels for their teeth grow 10" a yr. so they have to chew to keep them worn down and sharp. I never saw anything and I even sanded the rough edges once and a month later some were chewed again. So now you might ask why do we feed the little brats all winter. My only answer is we love to watch there crazy antics while eating peanuts and sunflower seeds so we put up with the chewing at least for now, if they get into the house or tractor shed then there may have to be some lead poisoning.

Steve, A had wiring on my truck damaged this fall by squirrels, dealership said they have seen a lot it. Had it happen twice in same area of wiring. I came from first trip to dealer to have repaired and that evening saw on TV a story about the same thing with thousands of dollars involved. They are making wiring insulation and other plastic items from soybean oil. There is a class action law sute against Ford and Toyota going on now. I ended up buying a product called Critter Ridder, in a pump spray. I have treated twice and so far have had no more problems.

I live in a woods lot with a number of hickory trees, these guys love the nuts off the hickory trees,

Have had problems with them over the years, mice and squirrels horde these nuts and store them inside machines, insulation, where ever they find a opening,

I keep a number of cats around, when not sleeping, they stalk them and can catch them,
I guess the only way to eliminate them as a pest is to eliminate their food source and stop providing them with a nice warm bedding place.
Just live in a concrete house with a paved yard and no trees,

I just deal with them, so far the cats have been my best control measure,
