Ferguson F40

I'm looking to restore a Ferguson F40 tractor. It runs well but want to get it the correct color and restore some hardware. Previous owner added a cab (which I will be taking down).

Anyone know where I can get a front grill with the screw at the center top rather than the middle right side?

Any hints on restoring it?

Much appreciated!

What's wrong with your grill? The 56 screw is in middle right side and the 57 is what
you have. They make new ones about $600. What is the serial number? You may need the
what you have as far as grill. Do you have the chin piece they are hard to come by?
Flint Gray is correct for chassis and Bambo Beige for tin work.

Beautiful pictures!!

The Ferguson I have needs to be painted the correct colors and there is damage to the grill portion I want to get fixed. I figured it would be cheaper to get it replaced and painted than repairs, no? What is the chin piece (guess you can tell I'm new at this!)

I have been searching for where I can get a grill from but no luck. Do you have a place that you know of?

Thanks in advance

Ken

You have a 57 and need the screw in top of grill. Looks like serial number is 406590. The only difference from a 56--57 is grill. One good thing you do have is Power Steering. Most High Crop didn't have P.S. Maybe because in early production farmers didn't want to spend the extra $$. Yours is one if the later production of the F40. They built 4 different models (Standard SGM--Row Crop RGM--High Crop CGM--Single Wheel TGM)of the 40. The pictures are of the 4 models which I have.

This link I hope will take you to the paint numbers of several companies. Also you can go to www.asfabricating.com to look at the grills which can be bought separately or as a whole unit. As miner09 said there doesn't look to be much wrong with your grill.

Wow didn't know they were that expensive. If you look at the grill there are a few holes in it. Thought that if I was going to repaint and restore it I might as well do it on a new one without holes. Maybe I should rethink it!

Thanks for your help.

Cabs are ugly... till it is 10 below with a 20 knot wind...
Sell it to Miner, he needs one with a cab for his collection.

Oh so true! Its a neat homemade one but not practical. In upstate New York the temperature is routinely that!
