Im finally getting this thing back together after replacing rear axle bearing, grease seals, and oil seals on both rear axles.
I put all the original shims back in resulting in either both the spindles rotating in the same direction or the one not turning at all when the other is turned.
So I added a 0.020 shim and the result was the spindles turning in opposite directions but the axle ends can be heard clunking in the middle of the tractor when I force a spindle back and forth.
Sooooo...... I took a 0.015 shim out and the spindles still rotate in opposite directions like they should but there is still a little clunk heard when I force the spindle back and forth.
Would you consider this good enough ?
I don't have any thinner shims to work with to get a more accurate setting. I could take out a paper gasket but would rather not.
How picky does this setting have to be?
Thanks for your help ahead of time.
