Need to swab out the 10W30 before putting 90W oil back in ?

I'm still on this rear axle oil seal project. Good thing I'm not trying to make a living at this :)
I'm thinking of going back to the 90W GL1 oil to play it safe.
I've drained all the 10W30 out.
Is there any need to make sure all the 10W30 is swabbed out before putting the new 90W in since one is detergent and the other is not?
Thanks again for the input.

That minor amount will not hurt anything. If your bored, you can flush it out with diesel. Then you have 5 gallons of diesel
to dispose of also.

If your old tractor has many hours on it and some hyd pump wear and you live in a cold climate,

You might want to rethink adding back gl-1 90 weight mineral oil back to the lift system,

I know this oil is non detergent and let's dirt particles just fall to the bottom of the sump, therefore not staying suspended in the oil so it can flow
through the hyd oil filter, but these old tractors do not have one,

at this point in the life of these old tractors, I think 15w40 oil might be a better choice,

In England they can still buy non detergent 15w40 oil, but I have never found it over here on this side of the pond,

I replaced my hyd oil with gl-1 90 weight mineral oil, in the winter the lift takes a short while to lift, motor needs time to warm up anyway, so no
real problem,

but just be aware you could have problems depending on the condition of your hyd pump as this 90 weight mineral oil is like molasses in cold weather !!!!!!!

How safe will 90 weight be?....The rest of the World runs 15W30 universal in the Ferguson rear ends without any problems!
