Ferguson Question

I went today to look at what I thought was an 8N Ford and it turned out to be a Ferguson tractor. I know absolutely nothing about Fergusons but this tractor has an overhead valve 4 cylinder engine and a 3 speed transmission. I can get it really cheap I am just wondering what year it is and whether it is worth messing with. It is in pretty rough shape but it can be saved. I have an 8N and 9N Ford but I have never even seen a Ferguson before today. Thanks Skip

Do you have a picture? The TO-20 and TO 30 are both 4 speed transmissions. These look very similar to a ford 8N, 2N ETC. Im not sure what you have, do you have any additional info?

I think this tractor has a 3 speed but it has been sitting outside for a long time so I didn t check it really close. Are they all overhead valve engines

It may be the TO-35, they are three speed WITH a high-low lever to the right of the shift lever, making 6 forward, 2 reverse speeds. If it's the deluxe model with the two stage clutch BRING IT HOME! Fix it up and USE IT! Deluxe models also had a tachometer, amp, oil, and temp gauge. Specials had the single clutch, oil and temp only. Most were deluxe, if so after you use it awhile you will probably leave the others set..

The model number tag Is located above the steering wheel. It would list model number and serial number. If a TO 30 it will have the air intake screen on the top right of the dash. Also has a oil filter housing on the side of the motor. The TO20 has the oil filter inside of the oil pan. If it's the TO 35 as Dieseltech said it will have 2 shift levers.

It has an OHV engine and a 3 speed trans with what looks like some sort of shift lever on the dash. Guess I will get it he only wants $100.00 for it and like I said it is rough but not dead

What color is the chassis and hood? Maybe it's a Massey Ferguson if it has the Multi-Power shift lever on the dash lower right side. If it's close enough I'd double your money! LOL

I ll post a pic tomorrow if I can get by there and take one. The lever is on the left side of the dash as you are sitting on the tractor.

click on the link and look and see if you can see what the one you are looking at is similar to. Don't worry there are many parts for the Ferguson just like the Ford. If that is the correct price why is it not sitting in your driveway? LOL
ID a Ferguson

It s under the tractor shed tonight, its in good company an 8N Ford a 9N Ford a John Deere B a John Deere MT a Farmall Super A and a Ford 5000 tonight
