Groove in axle at the oil seal position - TO30

Sorry about all the questions.

Pulled the first axle to find a groove wore into the axle right about where the new oil seal will ride. The oil seals from this web site is made different than what is in the machine now. The new seals have a couple of lips. The old seal looks rounded.... no lips.

Maybe the new seal will ride outside the groove and I'll be ok or do I have to do something drastic to keep oil from leaking onto my brakes?

Or do I go back to 90W tranny oil ?

Thanks

I have never used a SPEEDY SLEEVE on a Ferguson AXEL. I have installed a SPEEDY SLEEVE on the Crankshaft due to a groove worn in the front Journal "TEA 20". Speedy sleeve installed and no oil leaked out front crankshaft oil seal(Timing Cover):

Here are a couple of pics. off the internet:

I had similar issues. The left hand was a real oily mess.
I had both axles "metal sprayed" and then turned down to spec. A$160.00 for both.
I had investigated "speedi sleeves", the cost was not going to be much different and I reasoned the build-up was a better move.
With the TEA not much younger than me ( 9 years) it probably doesn't matter. It has only had a few days slashing work since, but all looks good. The first two photos are after the rebuild, the third photo is of the worst axle prior to rebuild.

Haven't found a metal spray source but my father-in-law worked for Terex building earth movers and they used an epoxy/metal filler after turning down the damaged shaft. It was called Devcon. I see that it is still sold. Looks like Locktight owns it.

Has anyone used this method or have any opinions on it?

I found a metal shop in my area.... 4 doors down from me. Guess it pays to get to know your neighbors :) But I don't know if he's willing to work on my stuff yet. We'll see.

Here's a youtube video of using Locktight FixMaster metal epoxy to repair a damaged shaft for anyone interested:
