With a TO 20 I am still searching for cause of weak cranking. Electrical system parts are all new: battery, ammeter, starter switch, starter. Wiring checks out. Tractor had always run well until recently. I had someone who helped me get the tractor started yesterday, sounded terrible with screeching sound (possible starter bendix slightly rubbing). He added shim to starter, but tractor could barely be cranked. Battery voltage was over 6.0.
We were thinking either a faulty starter, or something binding the flywheel? I recharged battery, took plugs out, and same labored very slow cranking. And then nothing
I am worried that the problem is now inside the tractor and becoming increasingly frustrating (and expensive).
Any thoughts?
