To 30 radiator

Since we are talking radiators I'll post my question. I'm visiting my dad and watching football where my tractor is stored.
I went to remove the radiator at halftime, due to the side plate needing to be re soldered.
Question the radiator mounting bolt just spins and spins. I see no head to put a wrench on. Is the head welded inside the bottom tank? I don't have my parts book here, there at my house. I must be missing something as antifreeze did not leak out when it broke free, thanks.

So I see no bolts listed in the parts manual. I have floated around the Internet and see the bottom of the some radiators that are supposed to fit have a slot that appears to accept a carriage bolt with square shoulders. If that's the case my square part on my radiator has rounded out and I'll just cut the bolt to remove it. And then figure out what to do after I get the radiator fixed,

Yes, they are carriage bolts.

Very common problem. You can weld a thin piece of sheet metal to the bolt to hold it so it doesn't turn, just be sure that nothing is touching the tank or it will rub through.

Thanks, I'm just gonna cut the nut off of the one bolt that's frozen, since I have easy access with the hood off. The other one came loose so the square that was holding it is in good shape I'd say. The radiator should just lift off after that. Now for reinstalation I'm thinking that I could put in a really long carrage bolt, say 4-5 inches for talking purposes. I could put on a nut to hold the radiator in place. Then double nut the end of the carriage bolt to hold the bolt so I can tighten the nut without the carriage bolt turning. This way I could tighten it up properly. Then cut the carriage bolt down to size. Does this make sense? Of course when the radiator is off and at the shop I can inspect the square slot and see if it could be repaired or straightened. Thanks again,

The carriage bolts for your rad. are 7/16 X 1-1/4 nf carriage bolts. 7/16 lockwasher and 7/16 nf nut
you will need two of each. you can use coarse threads instead of the fine tread.i got mine at the fastenal co.
good luck
