I removed the new thermostat and with NO thermostat the water in the radiator churns like it should. I left the engine run fir about 15 minutes then covered the front grill with a piece of tarp. after awhile the temp rose to 170 and off I went for a short ride. temperature about 50 and raining. the gauge never went past 170 and when the ride was over I verified the gauge reading with a meat thermometer I had with me. I need to add AF and that's it for the winter.

anyone know if the MF 50 had a fender tool box like the 35's?

thanks.

ya nooooooo.... I wanted to tell you to just take the thermostat out and leave it out... I done that all my life, even in the frozen God forsaken Canadian frontier north country.
BUT- when I got onto these forums and mentioned that I leave em out.... I was cursed so much my ears were ringing. But sometimes, many times- a thermostat starts more problems than it solves. Glad it worked out for you!

back when I had ford (N's) and a to-20 and 30 I did not use thermostats. something just did not seem right about having a thermostat in the upper hose.
