Hi guys. i'am getting ready to change the trans/hyd. fluid
on my T020. whats a good year round fluid for this. and how
many gallons & drain plugs does this have ? i think there is
a certain procedure for refilling it also if i'am not mistaking.
also looking for another crank handle for this T020 if anybody
has one for sale. thank you

I have a 39 9N Ford-Ferguson and a '48 Ford 8N and use to use the FORD MC spec'd stuff til it got too expensive. I have been using the TSC TRAVELLER SAE90 oil specifically for old Fords now for 5/6 years with no issues and I think it will work fine in a TO20 too. Trans and hydraulics use the same sump. Might be the only decent tractor product TSC sells...

I use the same TSC oil and have no problem. You will get different options but this is as close as you will get to the original type oil used at factory.

should be 90wt mineral oil NOT 90 gear oil but a lot of guys use 15-40 engine oil if you are in the cooled part of the country 15-40 might work better for you

I bought replacement hydraulic transmission oil for my TO 35 tractor 1957 model at NAPA
90 weight non detergent mineral oil, around $15 per gallon, they sell it in gallon and 5 gallon containers,

You need to order a manual for your tractor, as my tractor said it required 8 gals for replacement of the oil,

Get the tractor as hot as possible before you drain the oil, like plowing your gardens, bush hogging etc, as this transmission hydraulic oil drains out slow,

Down side of replacing your oil with 90 weight non detergent mineral oil, in the winter if your hydraulic lift system is a bit worn, it will take a while of warm up for the lift to work, you might be better off with 15w40 diesel oil, this oil will flow easier in the winter,
However, if you are a purest, 15w40 diesel oil is a detergent oil, as we cannot buy this weight oil on this side of the pond, they can in England,
Just a heads up if you start looking,

At one time Briggs and Stratton did sell10w30 weight non detergent oil for their mower engines, but I do not believe they sell it any more,

I think the answer depends on where you live and what you are doing with it. If you are in the north and back blading snow this winter motor oil does not attract water and the three point hitch works fine.

I have said it before.....America is the only place (that I know of) that does not use 15W30 universal oil in the transmissions of Ferguson and MF tractors.....I have two tractors with over 10,000 hours which have never used any other oil, they came from the factory with it in them! and no problems!............Sam
