TO30 - Thumping sound when PTO is running

Hello all. I have a TO30 that has been developing a louder thump thump thump in the trans area when the PTO is running as the tractor has gotten older. It goes away when the PTO is disengaged. Any idea what might be causing that?
Thanks

Can't hear it from here. . . Might be in need of anti-thumper bearings. . . Might be in need of another pump or you could try
the pump blocks. I like the minuscule part in the manual that says to run the tractor for a few seconds to properly align the
shafts before finally tightening the pump into position. Makes sense but most people just plop in the new pump and tighten it
down. I guess steel shafts can be softer than the brass pump blocks. . .

I'm sure glad you can't hear it from there :)
That makes sense about the pump block. The pump had rusty valves on the one side when I bought the tractor 10 years ago and made the lift shake as it was lifting. I remember that sentence about running the pto before tightening the bolts and I'm pretty sure I did that. Else I didn't do it right or it was just wore out and I didn't catch it.
Thanks for you input. I appreciate having some place to look right off the bat when I tear this thing apart and not be hunting in the wrong thicket. :)
Thanks !!!

What does the oil in the transmission/differential look like? You may be running the pump
with more water than oil if it has sat outside for a long time and not had the oil changed.
Oil that is too stiff will also cause the pump to thump and you might not notice it in the
hot summer days but as it cools off that oil will be stiffer.
