Ferguson one bottom plow

I bought a 1940 ford 9n that came with a ferguson 16" plow from original owner who bought the plow and a ferguson field cultivator with the tractor. Much like the one Steve 19438 bought last month. My question is how many different bottoms were there available for this plow? I have only seen the 16" in the early single bottom. I had an 18" on my later ferguson single bottom. The reason why I raise this question There seem to be a place, see second photo, were you could move the coulter back.

I have one also and Coulter is up front. These were the early Sherman Mfg. plows. Even the 2 bottom has the same type beam with same features. I'm thinking my is 16 in.and have never seen one different. My tag is missing. Does your's have a tag?

do you think it possible that Sherman made that piece that way so it could also be used on a two or three btm plow?

We had a 'mini' lesson on this at the FENA meet. seems all this stuff was made as 'one size fits all', the owner was suppose to build and adjust pieces as needed- for the job and conditions etc.

The early Ferguson-Sherman 1 bottom plows were pretty much 16". The coulter stems could be moved to different positions based on needs. Are the coulter stem holders cast right onto the beams? Is th FORD script logo cast on the center main beam? Plows were the only implement hat were built at the Rouge Plant. That is a nice keeper plow. 1 Bottoms are great for small gardens and food plots...but part are no longer available for the early plows...

Yes cast stem holders cast into beam. Yes ford script om beam. Agree, a keeper. Owner emailed me has the jointer too. One of the photo I have of the tractor shows it wasn't on in '43 so surprised he was still able to find it.
