to-30 missing problem

After bushhogging all summer my TO-30 started missing at full throttle. It runs fine at 1/2 choke so I think it is a fuel issue. I checked the two screens, one at the fuel elbow on the carb, and the one in the fuel bowl, both were clear.checked the points and plugs, they seem fine and were new this spring.Any suggestions before I open up the carb? Thanks

Have you tried backing the main jet adjustment out a little?

Also try pulling the drain plug on the carb bowl, see how much fuel flows and what comes out. It should flow a full stream until the bowl empties, then slow to a trickle, but not a drip or stop. Catch what comes out in a clean glass, check for trash and water.

How is the air cleaner? Has the wire mesh been cleaned? One other thing to check, wear in the distributor shaft bushing, and the centrifugal advance. I know these don't relate to needing choke, but good things to check periodically.

Pull the bolt at the bottom of the carb. Fuel flow supposedly resembles a cow pissin' on a flat rock. If not, how about the stand pipes inside the tank? Yes. Drain the tank and pull the valve assembly from the bottom of the tank.

When you say you checked the plugs
how did you do that, did you check them with a tester under pressure
buy 4 extra plugs and replace and see if that helps
what type are in it now
if they are champions throw them away and buy new ones.

Update, I rebuilt the carburator and that seems to have fixed the problem. It runs so much better I thought I would go ahead and check the timing. I have an old dwell tach points tester that I was going to use.It came with no instructions. It is a Balkamp 12v. ( my tractor is converted to 12v). At the top of the tester window is says;4 cyl engines doubles 8 cyl readings. Does anyone know what this means? Since it doesn't have a 4 cyl scale you have to double the 8cyl reading? So if I want idle rmp (400 rpm) do I make the tester read 800 or 200on the 8cyl. scale? Any help is appreciated.
