Still trying to assess the output of my rebuilt generator for my 6 volt + ground TO20. By several metrics the generator is not
putting enough voltage to recharge the battery. Since the battery is brand new, I am wondering if the voltage regulator is
preventing any voltage across the contacts to recharge the battery. The battery reads about 6.20 volts. When I remove either of
the battery leads, the tractor stalls. When I rev up the engine, the voltage at the battery reads the same.
Question: how can I test the generator myself with bypassing the V.R.? The VR and battery are both brand new. I also bought a new fan belt as the old one appeared to by worn and slippery.
My last resort is to take the generator back to the repair shop and have it tested there.
Thanks in advance for any help you might give.
