TE20 oscillating control valve circlip

My TE20 has the "oscillating control valve" version of the hydraulic pump.

The circlip that secures the key rod into the rear of the control valve has gone missing (don't know for how long).

Question:
The "wire type" circlip shown in the manual, looks rather flimsy and maybe prone to popping out? so I am wondering if a "pressed metal" (flat type) circlip (with the holes in the ends) might be a better choice to replace it with?

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Rebuilt my pump over 3 years ago and was advised by Bare-Co
the Aus parts supply company for ferguson to leave the oscillating
rod out. All seams well as I have not had any problems with the operation of the hydraulics and all is working well.
Regards John.

Keep the Oscillator on your Control Valve, as the Valve wears it is more prone to stick. The round wire circlip is OK and is not flimsy at all, just make sure that it is open far enough to click into place inside the Control Valve. The flat type circlip does not fit readily into the groove for the round wire type circlip[ and is more likely to pop-out than the original wire type. There is little or no load on the Oscillator, in and out as it is a twisting motion (Oscillating)
DO NOT handle the surface of the Control Valve with bare fingers as it will damage the highly polished finish and that will again cause it to stick. The Oscillator is there for a purpose, just to rock the Control Valve to prevent it sticking. Early tractors did not have this Oscillator, but we did fit a lot with them and it is definitely much better. John(UK).. [email protected]

Can I ask where you purchased your oscillating control valve circlip from as I have the same problem but can't seem to find anywhere online to get it
Thanks

It really is just a circlip , there is nothing strange or special about it . Go to your nearest bearing shop , take the bits with you and get them to fit one . It would be a really poorly stocked shop that wouldn't have the right one off the shelf .
