MF 32 sickle mower

Just bought the sickle mower and hooked it up, all seems fine except it wants to drift over and rub
the left rear wheel.
I asked the seller if there is a sway bar or something missing? He said MF never used one?
I never had this issue with the Ford attachment before.
Is there something missing here? My tractor is a TO 30

Thanks for your help, Rob

I have a MF 32 sickle mower
you have to have a stabilizer bar on the right side of the tractor/mower (driver facing forward)side.

we have owned one for many years, really not much of a mower in my opinion,
I have replaced all the sections and guards, about all it is, is a weed cutter,

lay it into heavy hay and that is when you find out what you have.
be sure its in time or register, critical adjustment,

if the wooden pitman bar has ever been broken, most have over the years and you have to make one or use a universal off the shelf. this critical length of the pitman bar is whats gets the mower out of register or some call it time.

good luck with it.

loosen the kick back nut bolt clean the surfaces good do not place any oil grease on this device, it must work properly or if you hit something you can destroy your mower, heads up on this one.

Thanks for the heads up maxwell!
Got any idea on the availability of the stablizer bar, where to find one?
Thanks again, Rob

Look on the left under tractor parts, go to Ferguson-click TO30, go to hitch and then stabilizer bar(s) If you don't have the hook-up, they sell a kit just above the bars. I try to run 2 on equipment, one on each side if I can for stability. Bars are less than 10.00 ea. Good Luck.

Might try TSC or any tractor parts location,

I think you can only run one stabilizer,

note the cutter bar lift casting on the left side of my mower, when properly set, as you raise the mower this casting catches under the left side lower lift arm and raises the cutter bar,

A stabilizer on the left side might cause the casting to bind or break, I never used one on the left side,
Attention: do not forget about that break away mechanism, it must be properly adjusted,

Well Max, if you were further north, you could collect old hockey sticks. That's about the best straight grain wood usually cut almost to exact width you need. Hard Maple- or they used to be fine maple...
and yeah, too much anti sway stuff, and the next time it finds a rock.... who knows what's gunna break... it seems to me, if it pulls to one side, it isn't hooked or adjust right. Mine never is...

here are some better pictures of my #32 hookup

note you have to put the stabilizer bar on the right side first, before you back into the mower and hookup the lower arms.

hooking up a sickle mower in the upright position can be dangerous, as it can fall

do not grad the bar as the blade can slip down and cut your fingers, all bar work must be preformed from the back of the bar.

my friend had a sickle mower fall forward as he was hooking it up and almost stabbed him in the back.

would be best if you have room to store the mower with the bar in the lowerd position.

does your mower still have the safety chain in place under the right side of the lower pin,
it is set to stop the mower bar rear travel as the bar goes back if it ever trips,

just a few tips as this is dangerous machine, many have been hurt working with them over the years, you have to be on guard at all times.
again, watch that blade as you raise and lower the bar, as the blade can and will slip down, fingers must be out of the way,

be safe,

I've spent a lot of time in front of one of those. They cut great if everything is perfect. Gotta have sharp sections.

Real handy for mowing around ponds, under trees, along ditch banks, and anywhere you need some extra reach.

Does any one know the size of the bolt that holds the Pittman on? I know it is left hand thread not sure if it is metric or american bolt.
