TO35 hydraulic repair

Next week plan to take the top of the rear end of my TO35 to find what needs repaired. Had planned to change rearend fluid in the fall, but had long healing process with a ruptured achilies. So did not get done. Tractor set all winter in unheated machine shed.
Started in early March. Let run about 10 minutes and stepped on clutch. Loud thud. Cover cracked and oil shot between my legs over the steering wheel. I would guess ice was the problem. What parts do I start replacing once I get it open? Have a complete donor rearend.

Have you looked close at where the oil came from? There is a small cover where the stand pipe brings oil up from the pump. Possibly that broke, the whole cover would not need to come off.

You are correct about the ice, it most likely jammed the control linkage and blocked the relief valve. A perfect storm for destruction!

There is a rubber boot where the upper draft link attaches. Most likely it will be rotted away. That and the shift boots are prone to let water get in the transmission. While the cover is off it would be a good time to replace the boot. They can be difficult to disassemble due to design and rust.

If you don't have a shop manual, it would be a valuable investment before starting this.

Questioning the possibility that my TO 35 may be a Deluxe. Tractor has all 3 guages plus a tach and power adjust rims. Serial 148970. Does not have letters other than TO-35 prior to serial number. My concern is: if this tractor is a deluxe (with the cracked rear end case) will the donor case interchange, if it came from a non Deluxe tractor?
I never gave much thought (being a Deluxe) until I remember putting a 9" post hole digger on it and the clutch slipped about 1/4 of the down. But the tractor has never acted as if the clutch was slipping doing other tasks. Tractor has (i think) a freeman loader on it. Never appeared to slip using the loader.
