TO30 aircleaner

I bought my TO30 about 6 months ago and just disassembled the oil bath aircleaner for the first time.

There is a 2" diameter hole that runs the length of the cleaner centerline. Should there be filter in this hole? Mine was empty.

Eric, the center tube should be empty. The outer portion of the air cleaner body should be filled with filter media.
Unfiltered air is drawn in through the intake on the TO-30 dash. It then flows down through the center tube to the oil cup, then passes up through the filter media where it is cleaned, on the way to the carburetor.
There's a good diagram in the TO-30 Owner's Manual. If you don't have one, there's one in the Manuals section over on the "other" N Board.

And... The filter media needs to be pulled out and cleaned periodically.
