Top Link Pin

Is the top link pin where it attaches to the bush hog the same as the one attaching to the tractor. Also the is some slack between the eyeballs and the bush hog bracket making the eyeballs move side to side a little within the hog bracket. Should I use spacers to reduce the slack?

If I understand your question: on my TO35 the top link both ends are 3/4" the lower lift arm pins are 7/8"

I use one stabilizer bar as you do not want the cutter swinging back and forth side to side

Some use additional support chains from the top link of the tractor down to each low link pin on the cutter, these chains are set at the height of
cut you want and support the weight of the cutter taking the weight off your tractor lift system,
Lift works fine, but each time you lower the cutter it always goes back to the same height, on some of the older tractors this up/down position
control was lacking,

Maxwell, what I am asking is the pin that attaches to the bush hog floating bracket from the top link the same style as the one that attaches to the tractor and should I add some bushings so the top link itself doesn't move side to side within the bush hog bracket. I do have 2 sway bars on the lower arms and check chains were there when I bought the tractor so I left them on. Sorry for the confusion

My cutter has an approximate 2 1/2" slot in the top link attachment hole,
I assume as the cutters rear wheel goes up/down with the terrain, this slot will allow top link to have some flexibility,
My cutter has the same slot, but I made another connection device so the top link has even more flexibility,

I am still misguided as to where you would install the bushings,
A picture is worth a thousand words,

Your good to go there should be a little slack in a brush cutter. that way when you hit something you don't break it.

did a little research. The pin I have is too long. It has an overall length of about 6 inches. Have to replace it with a 4 1/2 inch or so of usable length. It was the pin that was sliding not so much the end of the top link attached to the bush hog. Thanks for the replys gents.....
