looking at 1950s Ferguson tractor not sure what model. It has not ran for about 10 years stored indoors look good tire good and a loader. Wondering how hard it will be to get it started ??

Well that depends on if it's stuck or not. If unstuck squirt a little oil in the cylinders before cranking. Let it sit a few days, no sense making things
worse. Scrap price to $1000. I guess would be fair non running with no idea of condition or any real knowledge of the tractor.

Good question. This year I picked up two TO30's one had a loader. Both were said to run when put away. The one with the loader got up and
running almost right away (side note, it had a rebuilt engine that did not have the oil pickup properly secured and now has another rebuild on it
), the other one motor was stuck so we put marvel mystery oil down all four plug holes overnight. Next day tried spinning it with starter but no
go so pulled the starter and pried on flywheel teeth broke the engine loose and fired it up. Has been running great since and is a daily work
horse.

You didn't post the asking price, I paid 800 for the one with loader and 500 for the other

First you'll want do a good visual inspection, look for deal killer problems like freeze cracked block, broken castings, etc.

Try turning the engine through by hand (the big nut on front of the crank pulley). If it won't turn that will lower the price to near scrap value.

If you make the deal, pull the plugs, give each cylinder a few shots of ATF, let it sit a few days. Then try bumping the starter. Be careful if using a 12v battery, the starter will be hitting hard, it will overheat quickly.

Even if it's not stuck some oil in the cylinders is still a good idea.

Once it's turning and has compression, dump the fuel, check out the condition of the tank (rust and leaks). Check out the carb, it will probably need disassembly and cleaning.

Check for coolant in the radiator. If none visible, fill it with water first, look for leaks.

Change the oil and filter. Check the transmission/gear case/differential oil for water.

If it was running before, 10 years inside it should still be in usable condition, but remember, at that age the wiring, anything rubber, cloth, or plastic will be deteriorated. Since it has a loader, look the steering, spindles, and front suspension over. Those didn't like loaders, if it was used a lot, there will be problems there. If you need a tractor with a loader, you may want to continue your search for something with power steering.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the advice think I will buy the tractors what the worst that could happen .

Good luck!

sufficient oil in the cylinders, turn engine over by hand, eliminate possible stuck rings. Leave
plugs out, cover holes with rags, crank over with starter to clear cylinders
