Update on "Bars Leak" and liners

I got lucky with the bars leak for now. Not loosing any antifreeze and its not in the oil at all. Oil level stays the same and is not murky and nice and clean. I ran the machine for about an hour a day bush hogging and temp and oil pressure were right on the money. BUT... I realize its a temporary fix. I did find a great mechanic who does a lot of repairs for the local farmers here who recommended him and he actually comes to your home for the repairs and his prices are very good. Only problem is that he is so busy that he cant make it until the end of July. Until then I'll just be gentle with it...

Thanks for all the help guys.....

Good deal! That has always been my favorite, the liquid Barrs leak with the black pellets in the bottom. Seen it do some amazing things!

I would wait until winter, if it holds. Maybe we can talk you into doing it your self by then! LOL

This is the new one its a copper metal liquid. Block and head gasket sealer. Not the black pellets of yesteryear. Not sure if I'm gonna tackle this one myself. I read the shop manual seems like a lot of work.

Hi
If you get any sign of a leak with that copper goo in there stop using the tractor immediately. I'm rebuilding a motor now that had it in and it
ran longer than it should slightly weeping coolant into the oil pan,and the guy draining the coolant off every morning. I couldn't figure out when I
drained the coolant that was left why it didn't have copper flakes in like every other time guys used the stuff I have seen with leaking radiators.

I pulled the sleeves still nothing for residue in the block Like i though there would of been after it was used. The crank bearings looked pretty
bad for wear when i pulled the caps. when I pulled the centrifugal oil filter the mystery got solved. all that copper crap was inside the filter
housing mixed in a grey paste that was also bearing material filtered from the oil.
To be honest after seeing that $900 crank and bearing screw up i wouldn't put that junk in for an internal leak ever again if it was my machine, It
was a real eye opener to me seeing what it did. I'm guessing that copper stuff became grinding paste as it went round with the oil.
Regards Robert

Thanks for the info guys. I red the postings from the links you sent me and some interesting reading there. I checked the oil from the drain plug and I am starting to get anti-freeze in the oil again so to avoid any other or more damage I am just going to let it sit until the mechanic gets here. I will pull the oil filter and look for that paste you described and hope I don't have any. Thanks again for the help.. I'm still learning

As Steve said, maybe we can talk you through doing it yourself. If it is not the head gasket it may be the " O " rings on the bottom of the
sleeves. Really not a hard job just need some muscle to remove the head. Plus the you can make sure your bearings are good.

Don't know If I can tackle a job like that without having seen it done before. NOW unless you guys want to volunteer... LOL

I think I'm going to wait for the mechanic. Never tackled a job that big plus I have don't have the proper tools to try it. I do have the basic tools but not any specialty tools that might be needed. Besides might as well get it done right the first time. Thanks again for all the help.
