Question about TEF20

Where you fill the engine oil there is a cylinder looking mesh screen filter or strainer and it is held in by one small screw i would like to know what exactly it is called and also wondering why it keeps blowing smoke out of it when hot?

That is an engine breather, Blwing smoke is actually engine gas blow-by, and shows the engine is worn.....won't do any harm for a long time as long as it is easy to start.....

Thank you now I finally know what it is. Yeah I already know this engine is worn but it is still very easy to start
