Power steering problems TO-35

Power steering pump problems again. It quit working about three years ago and i replaced it with a used one , worked better but not real good. So i bought a new one that was listed for the 1959 TO-35 with the Continental z134 engine. It bolted up but was tight against the dist. cap so i was unable to remove it, sent it back . The problem was the fill tank had a cap bolt in the center of the tank . On mine it is off set a about 1 inch moving the fill tank towards the front of the engine and leaving more room next to the dist. Question is , does any one know if the old fill tank will fit the new ones ? Or where can i get one like mine ? Last question , can a different style of pump be retrofitted to bolt up and work

I tried to upload photos but i don't see them.

Thanks JIM

I "think" the old reservoir could be switched over to the new pump.

Not aware of any other pump that would fit there, unique to that engine mount.

Are you sure there is a problem with the old pump? They are pretty simple and trouble free. Lots of other things can go wrong.

I have been looking for a rebuild kit but non found yet . I believe i can rebuild it if i had the parts , rebuilt a lot of car parts since the 1960s. Thanks for the help. JIM

I tried to edit the bad spelling above ," he should be the ", the site would not let me .

Then another question i wanted to add was . Will the rotation be correct on the "pancake " style of pump ? JIM
