TO-30 hydraulic pump

Not originally, but if you are in there, and don't want it to slowly drop down anymore, you could put one in- but I don't know the dimensions of an O ring. I think Ford put the nylon one in the middle?? Some one will know, or check out the Dorf forums...

I believe if you are in reference to the pistons inside the pump, I
believe they have no o ring or other. If you are reference to the
cylinder just under the top cover then you might desire to reference a
Ford NAA with the newer style piston and improved seals.

These are in the pump and go from side to side on a yoke with the pto running through them. They are on a sides of square pieces. These pistons are about 1" and there is a total of 4 of them. 2 on each of the square pieces of which there are 2.
Trying to help a buddy out and neither of us have done this before. It would seem to me that there would have to have some kind seal in there in order to work.

your not using 5/20 oil, your using hyd oil of some sort. The oil will seal the pistons. the grooves are to hol the oil and not scratch the walls,

Go to AGCO Parts Book--then click on view as guest--type in 30----click on MF--scroll
down to 30 tractor click on the section you want to see.You can look at any part and
get part number. There is a rebuild kit for what your working on.

No, there are not orings on the pump pistons.

The pistons should have a very close tolerance fit in the bores, that is what makes the seal.

Be sure the valves and seats are in good order, that is usually where the problems are.

Thanks guys I will let him know. It was really dirty in there. And it seems like some of the valve springs aren't as stiff as others. His lift doesn't work at all. It did at one point and got to this point.

Don't 9n's and TO30 use the same pump? I know Ferguson and Ford were friends. And they were in business together for awhile. And the pump was Ferguson's idea. So if that is true the parts for both should be the same? I have a 9n that's why I'm asking.

there are long drawn out explanations about the effects and reasoning for the grooves but the condensed readers digest version is they are used to create a hydrostatic bearing to center the piston.
