TO-35 Cracked Lift Cover

I recently picked up a TO-35 standard diesel to manage food plots on my property. I have been pushing it hard this spring and I just noticed a crack developed in the lift cover. It also has a crack in the transmission housing where a previous owner cross threaded a lift cover bolt. I have been doing some searching and have found many people that are having a similar problem. I am almost done with all the spring maintenance and will be tearing it apart for repairs. I am a heavy truck and equipment mechanic so the mechanics of the project shouldn't be a problem. I plan on welding the crack in the transmission housing and repairing the threads with a helicoil. I am mainly looking for a replacement cover and any advice that would help the repair go smooth. Thanks in advance and I will post some photos of the damage when I take some.

Some things to check:

Be sure the pressure relief valve is free and correct pressure.

Also, if the lift control valve is not properly adjusted, the lift will try to raise too high and stress the cover.

Hard to explain the adjustment procedure, if you don't have a shop manual, it would be a good investment.

Is that "Orey-gone" or is it "Or-uh-gun"? Perhaps "Are-gone". What about "Air-gone"? "Or-a-gone"? Could be worse. Spelling challenge is another catagory. Could be misssississppi or coneticut. Maybe even hydrolic for the truly challenged. "Carbuater"? If it wasn't for spell check my ignorance would be in full view. Pronunciation is another mater. Therein I have previously displayed mental short comings several times and occasionally do it just to aggravate the wife, who allows me pretty much full rein on all my various projects. I really should not annoy her as much as I do but that there would just take all the fun out of it.

As for the cracked lift cover, get a scrap oven, put the cover in it, heat it up and weld it. Then drop the temp 100 degrees per hour until it cools off. You being a mech and not a tech, probably already know that.

Several different thicknesses of lift cover...all will fit but the lenghts of the stack pipe will differ. Hydraulic settings are real important as is max lift height....and also replace that relief valve with the correct one.

Thanks for all the responses, I will check on a new cover as well as everything else mentioned. I do have a service manual to reference on all the adjustments.
