PTO Lever TE20

The PTO Lever on my TE 20 has been stuck on since I got it. Was never really an issue but now I'm buying an old sickle bar mower from an estate and I want to use it. The lever and shafts move ever so slightly but I have not horsed on it. Can I just take the cover plate and lever off or do I need to drain fluid? Any thoughts on why it won't move?

Thanks

Ryan

Yes you can remove the cover plate with the handle. You may want to pick up the hydraulic gasket set, cheap, here so you can put a new
gasket on. The lever may be ok and you may have to free up the engagement part. Check the picture.

You won't have to drain the fluid. If the oil is above the bottom of the port hole, it's too full.

Have you checked the transmission oil for water? Very common. The PTO engagement spline may be rusted in place.

I had posted about this tractor when I bought it it wouldn't roll free. It was mid January after a month of well below zero. Turns out that the several gallons of water in the case was frozen solid! So yes, rusted is probably the case then.

Thanks all for the suggestions and diagram.

So, we took it apart and it appears as if the end of the lever (5) is bent and twisted. Still not sure where it goes but we are going to start with trying to straighten it. Any better pictures of where the end of the selector actually goes?

Thanks

Got it! Now to get a seal for the PTO. Leaking like a sieve.
