I blew something out today

Cruising along cutting brush and Boom something went. Steam everywhere.. first thought was a radiator hose but of course not it had steam coming from the exhaust pipe and antifreeze running from the carburetor.. Sigh best scenario is blown head gasket worst is cracked block better than worse is cracked head.. Guess the old girl is going to get some serious attention over the next few weeks months.. depending what all she needs. So if I need new block or heads are they available anywhere? is there an engine swap that is possible in a TO 30? I think I want to make her original but might just go for functional till later.. So any one have any ideas? I am open to suggestions..

With the steam from the exhaust
pipe and water dripping from carb intake I am sure it was getting into the system via cylinders or head leak it was running out so sure something internal went.. That freeze plug appears solid but it is painted over there..
Thanks wish it was that easy..

Cracked head comes to mind. Time to pull the plugs and have a look. Head
cracked on the exhaust port side causing steam out the tail pipe and when
the valve opens, it leaks into the cylinder. Had that once on a 6
cylinder engine. In fact, as engine disassembly looms in the future, pull
off the intake/exh when you pressure check the cooling system.
No way to cheat comes to mind with a tractor. But pulling off the
manifolds might show you a crack.

For something like that to happen suddenly, I'm guessing a shattered piston, and or a dropped valve. May have
cocked the piston and split a liner.

You should be able to find anything you need for the engine.

As for repower, it would not be practical. About all you could even try would be to upgrade to a z134, even
that may not be possible. Never tried, but they look similar.

The English Standard engines have an alloy plug in the head , this can corrode from the underside , let go and cause very similar symptoms . Obviously the Continental engine is a different animal but it may have something similar. The plug in the Standard head is right in the middle hidden under the valve gear pedestal .

I had some overheating issues a few years ago that took forever to diagnose I am guessing that contributed to this.. I shall just tear into the old girl and see what she needs. ON a good note I found a tractor grave yard with what appears to be several Old Fergusons in it close by.. so if head or block are needed I might be in luck..
