I watched it. Been a fan of Robson Greene since Reckless in the mid nineties.
Can't help on TE Fergy question. TOs I might approach being dangerous.
 
The Brits put great stock in being properly dressed to represent class and position in the society.
It wasn't that long ago that a farmer wore a suit coat. (The hired man might not.) The coat may have
been old and worn, too old for Sunday wear. A vest, or waistcoat, was necessary to hold up the pants,
much like suspenders.
A tractor mechanic, (mechanician) was expected to have some self-respect.
 
If you watch any old movie from the 30's, 40's, or even the 50's, men wore suits and women wore dresses -simple. The demo at Dearborn Fair Lane with Harry Ferguson and Henry Ford -look at the men all in suits. Harry, when he put on his demos wore a suit, and Henry driving the 9N in a suit too, so it's not just a British thing. The Eber brothers, the crowd of reporters, et al...

Was watching Kevin Mcload home Made ( english show) he made a reclining chair out of the steering arms with the front end and hydraulic lift arms, even had the fergie badge mounted on it.
