I had a similar problem with mine. I got the AGCO SPECIAL 825660V1 belt from the MF dealer (the belt for the TEA20) and had the same problem when installing it. I had to remove the genny from the bracket and put the belt in the pulley. Then, with some effort, get the genny fastened back into the bracket. Once installed it fit perfectly. Seems that the belt is so thick and the pulley groove so deep, that you cannot just run the belt over the edge of the pulley.

You should not have to remove anything to fit a belt! The dealer is obviously selling you a belt that is too short. Take the old belt to NAPA, etc and have them get you the correct length belt.

I'm with Montana. Get one a bit longer. Or maybe just a bit thinner? This is the same problem with tires that are so much larger than the factory or old time replacements. Too thick nowdays. Instead of getting cheaper with rubber, companies are creating problems making stuff too thick. If the old belt was a metre, and you have 975, you are an inch too short eh? An inch is a mile on a fan belt. And the thickness makes the bevel too wide, atleast for the first 5 years. I would find one that's 'brand x' and fits better rather than for restoration numbers. Too tight and you could burn the generator and open the water pump seals, go to the FENA site or wait till someone on here knows the proper length of a belt.
