TO20 differential lock

I have a 1951 TO20 that only seems to be pulling with the right wheel. Is there a way to lock the differential on this tractor or is it designed that way or is it broken? Any help would be appreciated! Also, what does the lever on the transmission housing behind your left foot do?

No way to lock the axle. That lever is what turns on the Hydraulics and PTO on back of tractor. If you can not lift the implement on the back of tractor check to see if this lever is in the on or off position.

It lifts ok on the bucket and the 3 point hitch. It's just that when I start to dig into a pile of stone the right rear is the only wheel pulling. Is that the way this tractor is designed? Just an open rear end?

There is no diff lock or limited slip differential. Which ever wheel has the least grip will be the the first to break loose and spin when pushing into a pile of stone. if it always seems to be the right wheel breaking loose first, the left wheel may have a tire with more grip, or maybe your left tire is filled with fluid and the right tire is not. Also, make sure your left brake isn't dragging.

when your right tire starts slipping add some pressure to the right brake pedal should lock the right wheel and make the left dig in.

that lever is to engage and disengage the PTO>

if your rear tires have fluid in them make sure they have the same amount in each tire because the light one will spin a lot sooner then the heavy one giving you the idea that only one side is pulling
