Just bought a 1955 TO-35 Deluxe and am trying to get the tachometer to work but tractor has been converted over to a alternator. Any ideas on how to hook it up to an alternator? Also was wanting to put the head and tail lights back on it. Brackets for rear light are still there but that's it. Doesn't have to be OEM. I will have to run wiring and switch to get them working. Anybody make aftermarket stuff that would look half way descent? One more thing.....this thing is red most of the Ferguson's I've seen are grey or did someone just paint it red years ago? It kinda looks like the Massey-Ferguson red.

If red and you are sure it's a 55 model based on the serial numbers, then I would say it was originally gray hood fenders with green body,

Tachometer, I would install an electronic tachometer and hook it up to the distributor, easiest way to go at this time with your setup,,

However, they do make high dollar alternators with tachometer drives that you could buy

I uh...did an alternator conversion to the wife's TO-20. Took it from the
proofmeter drive genny to the alt. Now considering putting it all back into working order. If you desire the alt conversion you can find tachs that are under 6 inch diameter and 10,000 RPM. I was looking at one rated for 3 or 4K at 2 inches. Just did not desire to bring $100.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I think I'll just leave it alone and if the alternator goes out I'll weight the differences on putting it back to Generator or leaving it alternator and not having the tachometer.
