hanging up in reverse

For sometime I have had trouble with the TO-30 sticking in reverse. Had to remove the cover get it out of gear. Today I had the cover off and added a spring from an old master brake kit. to hold the slider out reverse. Works good so far. It won't stay in reverse until I release the clutch, but better than hanging there. Didn't want a lot of transmisson repair and expense. Really like the TO-30

Just make sure it's not dangerous, part you added fall down and lock transmission

Is the clutch releasing properly in the forward gears?

Has plenty of oil in transmission, I guess you could see this

The problem you will probably have guessed is just wear. When you get this the shafts will move around and are not held in the bearings correctly. They are adjusted with shims to counteract any wear there maybe. Have you got the correct amount of free play in the Clutch pedal adjustment, when you lightly press the pedal with your hand, you should have a gap of 3/16" under the Footrest, any more than that and the Clutch isn't opening enough to release the Plate, there is always a possibility that the Clutch plate lining is breaking up due to wear John(UK) [email protected]
