beautiful day here in SEPA so I decided to fire up one of my to-35 machines. took the tarp off, turned on the gas, turned key on, pulled out choke hit the starter button and it fired up. had not been uncovered or run since week after thanksgiving.

about 2 years ago I bought a farm that included an 1953 to-30 that had sat in a barn for at least a year without running. After finding that the old farmer had put antifreeze in the oil filler by mistake I flushed out the motor. After taking the oil pan off I noticed that the block was cracked in the usual places.I was still able to use it this summer to bushhog.(Despite low power and high oil consumption.)After much looking last fall I found a longblock on ebay that the guy had running on a video.I installed it this winter.Unbelievibly no smoke, no cracked block,I was to get this motor running minutes after finishing the install. What a great machine! I sometimes yearn for simpler times much less simpler machinery.
