TO-20 Lift Lever and Lift Arms Creep Up By Themselves...

Pulling fence posts with drawbar and chain, so nothing hooked to the top link/draft control spring.

I would push the lift control lever down to hook on the chain, and the lever (and lift arms) would raise on their own, while I was working.

Do I just need to do the quadrant adjust procedure described in the manual? Is this something the cork friction disc is supposed to fix? (The draft control spring appears to be adjusted properly, per the manual.)

The cork friction disc is supposed to keep the control lever from rasing up. Could be the disc has went bad or the spring behind the castellated nut isn't tight enough. The quadrant should be adjusted after the draft control is adjusted.

Thanks, Jason. I tried the castellated nut, and it was seized. I'll let it soak, and give it some more attention.

On closer inspection, it looks like the cork friction disc is gone.

The Hub to which the Lever is attached can be hard to remove as it is tapered and you can break the Hub, but they are available. If you want the info about setting up the Lever I can send it...John(UK) [email protected]

I removed the hub on mine by putting two large screwdrivers behind it driven in lightly as wedges and then heating the hub after it got hot I took a dead blow to the shaft and the hub popped loose with one or two whacks with the dead blow.

Thanks, Jason. I don't have a torch, but I'll see what I can do.

It's probably a good thing I don't have a torch, anyway: I'd probably melt the aluminum parts.
