most likely I am wrong but I have always thought that when the 35 went MF the TO designation was dropped. I found a Massey Ferguson TO-35 manual amongst my junk. (printed 1963) my 1960 MF 35 does not have a TO designation on the ID tag. I was talking to a guy today who said he had a MF TO-35 designation on the ID plate of his 35

so when was the TO dropped?

is kind of funny, I think MHF would have painted a tractor pea green with yellow polka dots back in the day, if they thought it would sell. But they were not the only tractor company playing around with the colors, Ford made some hard to paint tractors back it those days, varying color hood, fenders, strips, etc.

The owners manual that came with my 1957 TO35 is copyrighted 1956 and shows a tractor plowing that is colored green body and cream fenders, hood,
my 1957 tractor was painted cream fenders, hood and gray body.

The owners manual that I use, when I work on my tractor looks like the one in Steve's original post, tractor color is red hood, fenders with gray body, copyrighted 1959.

Steve miner09 is correct as far as he shows the last numbers of the 1960 MF 35. One of the items I have been researching is trying to find the last number of the TO 35 and the first number of the MF 35. I had been under the impression if the serial plate is showing TO 35 that is a Ferguson and if the serial plate is showing MF 35 that is a Massey Ferguson. Are you able to contact that person again and have him send you a picture of that MF TO 35 serial plate and then send it to me? I am very much interested in seeing this. I had worked with a family last year that their tractor engine was built in 1961, it went through a fire and was recently restored. The father swears the front hood emblem was a Ferguson when they bought it new however the serial plate was melted in the fire so I can't do much along that way now to prove or dis-prove this. I would really like to be able to have a picture of that serial tag plate you say he says is a MF TO 35. Thank you for any help you can produce. Richard

good to hear from you. unfortunately the owner of that 35 sold it years ago and had no idea of what the serial number was/is.

my confusion is that manual dated 1963 indicates massey ferguson to-35.
