Ferguson 35 gas tank

Would anyone know the correct thread size for the sediment bowl in a Ferguson 35 gas tank. I have a parts tractor that I need the gas tank off of, and someone put in a standard pipe tread plug and messed up the threads. Does the sediment bowl and the gas tank have a special pitch thread?

Or, does anyone have a good gas tank off of a 35 gas tractor that is for sale?
thank you

Do you need a tank for your Government 35 or just a straight TO-35. If you need one for a TO-35 I have one from a parts tractor that is for sale.

I am working on a 57 Massey Harris Ferguson so a common gas tank is what I am looking for.
you can contact me at [email protected] with more info as far as price and condition.
thank you

Best I recall it's a 1/4" NPT. If you retap it, stop with 6 threads of the tap showing, or it will be tapped too deep.

I am questoning the threads that are in the gas tank its self. Someone put a 3/4 inch ? pipe thread plug in the tank treads and now when I screw in the sediment bowl the threads to not match. Just wondered if anyone knows of what the threads in the tank should be so I could try to retap them.

Can you determine it by running a die onto the sediment bowl shaft and using the tap that matches that die?

I replaced my sediment bowl not long ago and it is certainly a pipe thread, and I think I recall it being 1/4". Note pipe threads look a lot bigger than the 1/4" would lead you to believe, as the 1/4" is the inside diameter of the pipe (or sediment bowl in this case).
If it's truly beat one option might be to drill it out a bit bigger and put in a reducing adapter; they exist.

This reminds me I too need a new tank, since I am not interested in welding in the presence of gasoline...
