Will 6V wiring Harness work on 12 V?

1953 TO30, had a poorly done 12 volt conversion with cobbled wires and no real good way to ever tighten fan belt if the need arose. Tractor belongs to my local gun club and the officers would like to keep the original look in case they ever want to sell it however, like the flexibility of 12 volt as the grounds mower is 12 volt and you can jump a 12 volt easier than a 6V if you need to with people that are not that used to being around a tractor.

I found an old 6 volt Delco Remy generator from a TO 30 and had the field coils replaced with 12 volt and had it cleaned up and have a 12 volt regulator. My question is, can I use a 6 volt wiring harness and just do the following:
1). Change the distributor to coil wire to the (-) terminal on the coil and the Ignition wire from the switch to the positive side of the coil?

2). Change the wire to the (+) side of the ammeter from the L terminal on the regulator?

3). Have to change the battery ground to the negative side of the battery and the wire to the starter switch to the (+) of the battery.

4). will have to check the lights as they are not hooked up and be sure they are 12 volts sealed beams

Just seems to me that I can find 6 volt wiring harnesses and can't find any 12 volt to use with a 12 blot generator. If all I have to do is make those switches, it would be easy.

Thanks in advance for the help, just want to keep this old Ferguson running!

6 Volt wiring harness is probably heavier gauge than 12 volt,so it will work fine, going the other way-12 volt harness to 6 volt would
be a problem.

Hello, I agree, I've had my to35 for 35 yrs, Run it on 6, 8, and 12 volt, with the same harness and generator, Just adjusted the regulator, Like the 12 volt, and could kick myself for not
doing it sooner lol.
