6ft rotary cutter with a TO35

Found a deal on a 6ft rotary cutter. Thought I'd try it behind my 55 model TO35 when I get it all back together. Think the little tractor will handle it ok? I have a 5 foot that I've got to re-build but thought I'd hang on to this six foot and give it a try. Mainly will be clipping around the house and lake with it. Nothing heavy.

I'd keep fixing the 5 foot. A 6 footer will give you times when you don't know which machine is driving who. My Housie 5 foot is like a weedwacker behind my 35, easier on the brain... and the seals, bearings etc etc.....

I have a 6 foot finishing mower behind my To35, and it handles it very well. I do a lot of mowing in
second gear and high range if the terrain is smooth.

For safety reasons you had better have a over ridding clutch on the PTO shaft of each machine, unless they both have one internally.

I use a 5 ft medium duty rotary cutter behind my 1957 TO35, its all my little fergy wants in heavy grass and weeds.

later model 35's and 135's had much hp power increase
my friend had a 135 diesel that was listed at 42-45 hp,
he handled a 6 ft cutter fine.

I use a six footer finish mower on my ford 9n without a problem also a 5' brushog. I've tried the 6' brushog and it too
much for the little ford and when ever I raised up the 6' brushog it was brake steering all the way. Your 35 has more
power so I don't think that would be a problem unless in the really heavy stuff. Without an ORC I would recommend a
real strong bumper.

"back on the farm" I mowed for years with a 55 TO-35 with a 6ft bush hog. no problem unless the grass was truly high. even then in low range, first gear the ferguson handled most anything. if your 35 has "live" pto (two stage clutch) you should not need a ORC. at least we never used one.

"Nothing heavy" probably means it will work ok. Biggest disadvantage may be if you have to load it on a trailer as it will make front very light when
you begin up the trailer ramp.

I once had a 6' Bush Hog on a TO-35. I could walk around to the front of the tractor and pick it up without too much effort.

But not all rotary cutters are as heavy as that one was. You might get by O.K. But I wouldn't recommend it.
