TO30 engine block

After 30 yrs of owning this tractor we finally decided to tear her down for a rebuild. Upon pulling the head and sleeves we found a LARGE gaping crack between the cylinders from top to bottom. It is a miracle that we weren't loosing coolant at an alarming rate. Also, we found that someone already tried to repair the crack previously by brazing.

Anyway, anyone know of any Good (no cracks) blocks for sale? Please let me know, thanks!

How big is large? This still may be repairable as z129 blocks in good condition are hard to find. For a large crack I would recommend having it furnace welded by a qualified shop. I have had two blocks with cracks pinned, or bolted. This is done by drilling a hole on the generator side through to the inside of the other side and tapping that side for the bolt. Older experienced MF shops should know how to do this.

Otherwise, look on flee bay Craig's list and also check out the tractor salvage yards. Nolt's has a very good yard.

Good luck and keep us posted on your progress

There is or used to be photos of this operation in the archives.
Photos were in "classic view" when I saw them.

Crazy in VT or Chuck (CA) how do I get in touch with either one of you? Also Crazy, does your block have any cracks?

I have one block with zero cracks and all original bearing caps, I have another block with zero cracks but mismatched bearing caps, I have another block with a small crack between one of the sleeve all original bearing caps.
