Today, my 11 year old son, John competed in his first Ferguson Heritage ploughing competition. The event was held in Kells Co. Meath in the Republic of Ireland. The main class was all grey Ferguson tractors with Ferguson ploughs....

The weather was absolutely super but the ground was hard, stoney and very dry!

Way to go John . Best to teach them at a young age about hard work & what it takes to start a garden . Too many parents don't wanta take the time to teach their kids something useful & of value .I plowed solo at age 7 & felt really proud that Dad felt I was able to do it myself & unwatched . Dad even complimented me on the straight furrows .Hopefully your son will carry on his fathers farming dreams . God bless, Ken

That kid is already too big for that dumb ol riding lawnmower... he needs... one of these.... dad has got to find him a nice solid TEA20 with matching plo...... ough.... I will donate the yellow and blue rustoleum.

I just noticed something. Maybe if Johnathan had his clip on sunglasses, he would have made first or second place?? ... you can't be distracted by the bright southern Irish sun ya no... his coach should keep this in mind for the next international match!!
And he is using coulters too!!! Well done ol chap! Magic ittis !!

Even I had noticed the same thing and also had seen the similiar sun glasses you can check it out http://www.citysunglass.com/.

Oh blimey. I was thinking.... poor kid is no bigger than he was a couple years ago.. he still fits in his old jacket... no taller in the seat.... then I see the bloody post is 2 years old!!! By now, he probably ploughs better than his old man! Or was John already better tillin than dad back then???
Sam, did you get my email last week? I'm always in people's spam filters... story of me life!!!

congrats... 3rd place... Cool.........

First of all, congratulations to your son! Sam, I think you may have a photo or two that would make a good candidate for the next FENA calendar. Also, this would make a nice story for the Ferguson Furrows. I'm sure our FENA members would enjoy the story about the competition. I will be in Ireland late March early April with my high school choirs singing in Galway, Kilkenny, and St. Patricks in Dublin. Hope to sneak away to see Harry's place.
