Painting a "54 TO30 Order of Events

I have been restoring a "54 TO30 and I am almost ready to start painting this little jewel. My questions are: What is the best order to paint the tractor parts? Should I paint each part individually and then assemble the tractor or are there parts that can and/or should be assembled before painting?

I paint the chassis with wheels-- hood--fenders--steering wheel-- seat--radiator off. Let it dry for several day until paint cures. The rim is silver with wheel center gray. Then I put wheels on chassis and wire tractor. After this I assemble other parts.

I'm with miner on this. Unless you happen to have things off already then paint them off. I had painted pieces while they were being worked on
and then afterwards painted the whole tractor. My last paint was just as miner said painted the frame up on jack stands wheels off and did them
and the other body parts while off and then reassembled every thing with a bit of touch up afterwards.
Have fun with it and post pics.

I have been trying to post before pictures of Old Ugly (and if you were to see it you would know why I call it Old Ugly), but I cannot figure out how to post them. I am not the most computer savvy person. Maybe if I keep trying I will be able to figure out how to post some.

Here's how I did mine, Bobby, pretty much like Tom H. and Miner described. Mostly brush and roller, with some rattle can. I'm not equipped to spray, so I just used VanSickle paint from my local farm store, with hardener added. Valve cover and head were off anyway, so I painted them while they were off the tractor, then I painted the rest of the engine after I re-installed them. Appears to be holding up well after a couple of years - good enough for me, anyway.

Looks really good. I haven't done any type of tractor (or car) painting before so I hope that mine will turn out ok. It will probably be closer to the spring before I can do any kind of painting here in Eastern NC due to the cold temps and lots of rain and I don't have building large enough to get in out of the weather.
